The national representative
Paulo Teixeira (PT), re-elected with 78.512 votes last October 7th, committed to submit and coordinate
the petition for the compulsory licensing of sofosbuvir, drug used to treat hepatitis
C, at the Chamber. The action aims to carry out a request from the Chamber to
the Ministry of Health and the Republic Presidency in order to be declared public
interest on the drug.
The document that will bring together
the representatives, shall be drawn up by the State of São Paulo Forum on
NGO/AIDS (FOAESP) and the Working Group on Intellectual Property (GTPI).
Since October 1st, the website #SofosbuvirLivre
is collecting signatures from citizens and organizations, calling for a
referendum on the compulsory licensing of sofosbuvir, filed by FOAESP with the
Presidency of the Republic. Access the website to join the petition: http://www.forumaidssps.org.br/sofosbuvir_livre
