The State of São Paulo
Forum on NGO/AIDS (FOAESP) registered a letter in the Ministry of Health, requiring
the transference of the Hepatitis C medicines from the list of specific medication
to the list of strategic medication.
That might facilitate HCV patients’ access
to drugs, as it would be unbureaucratic.

REF.: Transference of Hepatitis C drugs to
the Strategic Medication List

the Minister,
The
State of São Paulo Forum on NGO/AIDS (FOAESP), collegiate body which joins more
than one hundred organizations acting on prevention, treatment and Human Rights
assistance to people living with HIV/AIDS and Sexually Transmissive Infections
(STD), claims, through this document, the transference of the Hepatitis C
medicines from the “specific medication list” to the “strategic medication
list”.
The average
budget execution for hepatitis C is one billion reais and hepatitis C drugs are
listed as specific. That causes delays on the medicine supply as on the
treatment, obstructing access of the eligible patients, as also embarrassing the
monitoring of resources dispensed to acquire the drugs.
The
annual budget for HIV/AIDS is one billion reais, the medicines dispensed on the
treatment of the HIV are in the Ministry of Health strategic medication list,
that eases their distribution to the patients through the “Unidades
Dispensadoras de Medicamentos” (Drug Distribution Centers) and guarantees to
the society the access to information about the destiny of the resources as
well as the follow up of their destiny.

We are
concerned about the access to these medicines on the current list it is. In the
state of São Paulo alone, the diagnosis of HIV/ hepatitis C confection is more
than 14.000 individuals, while the treatments accumulated until 2015 are under
4.000.
Based
on the arguments above, we claim the analysis of our request.
